TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; No tice 1b hereby given that in pursuance of a resolution adopted by the con mon council o( the city of La Grande, Oregon, on the 27th day of December, 1911, creating a special improvement district, the property hereinafter de scribed ag such district and the coun cil proposes to assess the cost of the sewer to the extent of the cost of an eight inch sewer, the amount of each property owner's assessment being stated in said resolution, the council will ten days after the service of this notice upon the owners of the proper ty affected and benefited by such im provement, levy said assessment; that the boundaries o: said district to be so Improved are the exterior lines of the property hereinafter described as being benefitted, viz: Blocks 115, 114, 113, 112, 111, and 110 of Chaplin's addition; Blocks 3, 4, and 5 of Coggan's addition; and tracts H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q. R, S, T and V .and block 12 of Coggan's second addi tion all in the city of La Grande, Union county, Oregon. Sonic Discussion of Making Claims fur La tiniude Bofore Mooting Early in February a college found ed on a Methodist basis will be estab lished in the Idaho conference which Includes the eastern counties of Ore gon, and considerable discussion is rife in business circles over the prop osition of pulling the proposed school to La Grande. " George L. Cleaver is a member of the commission which meets, in Boise February 5 to act final ly on the matter and at that time the movement to pull the school here will come to a head If it comes at all. Other cities lrf Idaho are making strong claims for the Institution and probably will make far more strenu ous efforts than any Eastern Oregon community yet the president of the commission writes to Eastern Oregon friends that he and the commission is extremely anxious to give an equal op portunity to every community In the district to obtain Oris school.
