Steincamp, cashier of the Sumpter bank, is in La Grande today on business matters. Ida Anderson of Pleasant Valley was in La Grande yesterday and was a guest at the Sommer. D. H. Taylor of Baker transacted business here last night and stopped at the Sommer. Mr. and Mrs. Delile Green have moved to 504 Adams avenue where they will live permanently. Mrs. A. W. Nelson and daughter Lois arrived home today from a threM weeks' etay with friends and relatives in Portland. Miss Emily Snook has been remov ed from the Grande Ronde hospital where she ha iindBreYm on operation , for appendicitis. Mrs. M. J. Crandall, a former resi dent of La Grande, has arrived from Spokane and Is visiting here with friends today.. ' 1 ' Miss Hazel Thelsen, who has at tended school In Portland during the past winter, is home for the summer months. Yardmaster T. E. Beuhler passed through the city today from Seattle on his way to the east. He is on a month's vacation. Fred B. Curey is afflicted with ty phoid fever at the Hot Lake sanator ium. He has been ill for several days and though he Is reported slightly bet ter today he will be confined to his bed for two weeks yet. Harry Pattison and his mother have now occupied their new bungalow on Main street. The building, is up to. date in every respect and is one of tho neatest appearing residences in' the city. Will Nelll, son of Mrs. Nellie Neill, and holder of the northwest javelin record,' arrived home this morning to spend the summer months with his family and friends here. Mr, Neill U attending the University of Oregon. Mrs. Fred G. Schllke and daughter. Miss Frederlcka arrived home today from Portland where Mrs. Schllke was installed as grand condustress of the Eastern Star and where she was mas ter of ceremonies during the Eastern Star drill team exhibition. Receiver and Mrs. Colon R. Eber hard and daughter Dorothy returned today from an extended visit with friends in Portland "r,A ?rthern Oregon. Both were n't in'nrM the Eastern Star and Ma3onle festivities In Portland recently. The Misses Lynette and Genevieve Kerr, daughters of President and Mr3. Kerr of the Oregon Agricultural col lege, arrived this morning to be guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R'. E. Rey nolds. The Misses Kerr and Mrs. Reynolds are sisters. . Society . Mrs. E. Pollock entertained the bridge section of the Flv. Hundred club yesterday afternoon. Prize were won by Mrs. H. C. Grady. Mrs. George Palmer was hostess to the afternoon section of the Kaffee Klatch Friday afternoon. Martin Suffers Injury. , Back in the Grande Ronde hospital an hour after he left town yesterday headed for his ranch, J. F. Martin, for merly a plumber with Martin & Brad ley, came to an untimely accident yes terday afternoon. Mr. Martin was in the city yesterday' with a load of wood and on his return to bis homestead he was bumped from the wagon acciden tally and was run over, one leg being broken by the weight of the wagon. King, who was quite seri ously hurt about the hips at mile post 36 yesterday, where he is owner and manager of a camp formerly known as Stanley & King, but now named the King camp, is reported better this morning.
