Changes In numbering engines have been ordered by O.-W, officials and within a short time there will be half a dozen other engines here whose identity, will be changed as far as th ir : numbers are , concerned. The most Important of the changes brought about for reasons not announced, but presumed to be on account of the change from 0., R. & N. to 0,-W., comes with the big Mallte engines which are soon to be changed from 450, 451 and 452 to the 700 class, com mencing with 700 and running 700, 701 and 702. The first Mallet to under go this change was 450 which is now coming out of the Albina shops after a complete overhauling, and Inciden tally as 700. No. 451 will be sent from here at once and it will come back as 701 and so on. In addition to these changes the 205 will be put Into the 300 class and the 211 will be changed to the 250 class at once. Lo cal officials do not know the reason REPAIR DOG HOUSE. Since the removal of the O.-W, dog house from the west end of the round house to a point Just north of the general Btore house, - DJvislon Engi neer Watson announces that the place is to be made more convenient and cozy to the railroaders. It will be re painted, new chairs will be put in and every effort made to give good accom modations to engineers and firemen headquartering there. Then, too, the building will be much handier to the division foreman's office where the criwa can. be marked up without walk ing several blocks. Yards in Good Condition. Assistant Superintendent Ladd, of he mechanical department, was in La Grande yesterday and expressed his full fledged satisfaction at the man n;r In which Division Foreman Wat son and his assistants have expedited the Installation of machinery in the new machine shop and the general trim appearance of the yards during the difficult work. With the exception of a few odds and ends, the old ma chine shop has been moved to the new building. Coolie, representing Dearborn Compound was in the city yesterday railing on railroad officials here. He was much pleased with the standard Of the new shops. Traveling Passenger Agent J. H. O'Nell went out on the Joseph branch this morning. .
