.r Negro to Die In Electric Chair.
Raleigh, N. C, Feb. 14 The authori
ties at the state penitentiary here
have completed all arrangements for
the electrocution of Nathan Montague,
the negro recently convicted in Gran
ville county of the murder of Layton
daughter. The trinle murder was com
mitted on the night of Dec. 15 last
To hide the evidences of his crime the
murderer set re to the Sanders home
and the bodies of; the victims were
burned to. a crisp. The, blood Btained
skirt-and purse of one of the victims
Vwas found in the possession of Mon
tague. Immediately after his arrest he
was hurried to the state prison here
to escape venegeance at the hands of
citizens. Three weeks ago he was re
turned to Oxford for trial and was con-i
evicted by the Jury after eig"ht minutes'
deliberation. Tomorrow is the day fla
wed for his electrocution. ,

With an attendance of numerous man
agers and players as well aa club own
ers. The large attendance indicated
that some Importance business outside
the usual routine la likely to be tran
sacted before the sessions close, whclh
probably will be Thursday, After the
schedules have been adopted the clubs
will start ou their annual training
trips preparatory to the beginnidng of
the real baseball season. Outside of
busldness pertaining to schedules,
there is considerable interest' in the
secret scoring plan to be proposed by
President Johnson, also in the own
ership of the St Louis club, the prob
lem of suspended players and the de
mand ol the Eastern and American as
sociation for higher classification, all
of which will probably come up at the
meeting for discussion."
