An Ordinance providing for the con struction of sidewalk doors and the repair thereof. . , . : The City of La Grande does Ordain as follows: , - Section 1. That all sidewalk doors hereafter built: shall be constructed either of 1-8' inch sheet steel, or iron bars 1.1-4 by 3-8 inch. If built of sheet steel, said doors shall be 4x5 feet In size, made in two sections of 2 feet by 5 feet, with a frame of angle iron 2 inches by 1-4 Inch; upon this frame shall be placed two doors or shutters two feet by 5 feet of 1-8 inch sheet steel, with a strip of angle Iron 2 inches by 1-4 inches running lengthwise' under the center of each door, and said doors shall ba rivlted with round headed rhets, 1-4 inch in diameter, placed three Inches apart. If doors are made of Iron bars, they shall be of the same size as those Of sheet steel; the bars to be 1.1-4 by 3-8 of an inch, placed 1 inch apart; laid on a frame the same as specified for steel doors. , .i Section 2. AH sidewalk doors now In use shall," within 30 days after this ordinance goes into effect, be repaired and rebuilt to conform with the pro visions ot this ordinance. , Section 3. Inasmuch as at this time there is no ordinance, governing the construction and keeping in repair of sidewalk doors, and It is necessary and expedient that this ordinance be passed at once, and in order to pre serve the peace, health and safety of the City and its inhabitants an emerg ency is hereby declared, and this or dinance shall be in force and effect at ter Its approval by the Mayor and its publication In one issue of the La Grande Evening Observer on the 24th day of December, 1910. .
