Christmas . BUYING lis CM Not only is the fact disclosed that years ago It was much colder In Un ion county than It Is now days, but also that the county deed record book was nyde a weather bureau record Is the Interesting light thrown on what Is almost ancient history In this county. Yesterday W. T. Wright, the pioneer of Union -was at the court house and he "was reminded through conversation about weather and rec ords, that in 1S83 when he wa3 re corder of conveyance and the court house was at Union, he had made no tations In the deed' book as to the weather. S.'nce then other recorders have been through the books time and time again but It is doubtful If they have seen these notations plain enough when attention la called to them. At least County Recorder Snook has not seen them' during his career in the office. The notations are' made on the bottom of the page and might easily be passed over unnoticed, Wright I'laced Them There. In the winter of 1883 Mr. Wright won rjv; ri-qs 5izri"y:.IW temperature was reached, he decided to make official notations of them and then In later years there would be ab solute proof of what records had been reached. He wrote It In the deed book1 and It is not likely that they have been seen from that day to yesterday. Mr! Wright knew Just where he had placed them and a hasty research revealed them readily enough. ' The notations made are? '. "Reported from North Powder, Feb. 3, 83 62 below zero. Reported at Un ion, Feb. 4, 38 below zero. Reported Feb. 5, 61 below zero. At North Pow der the same day, 3.4 below zero. (Sign ed) W T. Wright." .;. v , l v., I tf If - ; y i i 1 Jli ': John B.
