RICE MYSTERY CLEARED.
Cleveland, Aug. 12. Circumstances
surrounding the death of William Rico.
near' his home at Euclid Heights, was
revealed today by John Brown, the
millionaire, who was a witness at the
coroner's inquest. Brown said that
the night Rice was killed, he saw two
automobile drivers in a road, and told
them that a man was dying. They of
fered assistance, which he declined.
Being assured by the men they were
doctors, and that everything possible
was being done, Afterward he called
up the hospital where the man ' was
taken, and found it was his friend, and
informed that it was Rice 'who had
died, and been removed to the morgue.
Brown said he did not know any ene
mies Rice might have had.

made up his. mind to sell the donkey. . . . .
" 'Come, son,' he said one morning, 'we will go to town and sell poor Jack.'
So they tied a halter around Jack's neck and began walking to town. The
first man they met laughed heartily at them, and when they asked nim the
reason he said it looked strange to him to see the man and boy walking along
leading the donkey when one of them might Just as well be riding on the
donkey's back. - .''' "V
'"Very well,' said the man; 'get up on the donkey's back, son, and we'll
go to town that way.'
"A little farther along they met another man. He looked at them and
aid, 'Shame on you, boy, to ride and let your father walk.' So the father
made the boy get down, and be himself got on the donkey's back. They rode
that way for a short distance until they met still another man.. He sold:
Well, well, of all the foolishness-one of yon walking when you might both
be riding on the donkey! He is strong enough to carry you both.'
