E. church here, but at present is at Vale, was seriously burned near Atlantic City some few days ago by the explosion of a gaso line yacht Gilford and hia grand- lather were riding with the mate of the boat, neither, paying any atten tion to the boat's progress. Suddenly an explosion r6ut the air, throwing the mate out of the bot, and collap sing the roof of the cabin on Gilford. With splendid presence of mind the mate returned to the boat and remov ed the boy before the Burns were fa tal. .f The aged man was less exposed to Immediate danger. Immediately after a complete res cue was effected, the boat was rent into by a second explosion. Mrs. Meredith, who was out of New York City at the time, beard of it by meagre wire reports, and was of course, in mortal agony until she learned the exact extent of the' burns. According to advices received by Mr. Meredith at Vale, his son is badly burned about the head and face, but apparently is under 'no immediate danger of fatal outcome.
