Some There are several kinds of drilling but the kind the kind tnat makes the farm pay is the drilling which makes water avail able. There is no need of a dry farm. The task is not so , great as you may think. I have had years of experience and understand the well busi ness thoroughly. i D. M. HUNT The largest crowd of people that have ever come through La Grande since influx started passed through La Grande this morning on their way to their home in the east from the Seattle fair, and the tour of the northwest Almost all of these ate their breakfast here and left quite a little money with the restaurant and lunch counters. There wer some too. who were looking for homes in the west and La Grande got her share of them. The Commercial club's supply of the small pamphlets telling the story of the Grande Ronde is exhauted and nothing remain to pass to the tour ist, but the large books and these are too costly to scatter Indiscrim inately to all of the passengers. The real estate men are compelled to do "tongue talking" and distribute their own advertisement. This Is not as desirable as the small namnhlets were as they were always sure to be read and commented upon. ll!tK,EI! VERY SICK RECOTERT DOUBTED BT HIS PHY. sicms. Sunday school, 10 a. m., Mr. Wil son Supt; Preaching at 11 a. m., subject, "The Blasted Fig Tree." Class meeting Immediately following the church service. Preaching in the evening at 8 p. m., "The Christian's Home." A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend these services. REV. J. L. IRELAND. Pastor. Those who failed to see the uer formance of "The Girl" at the Pas time theater last night, should by ail means avail themselves of the oppor tunity, either tonight or tomorrow night, and attend. The piece is dra matically one of the best ever given at this pouular house. As "The Girl" Miss Manyon Steward was a revela tion to her many friends, while the part is an exacting one, she was full? capable, and proved her ability to do a strong part, without overdoing it. Her acting was at all times easy and natural, free from the affectation so often seen in roles of this kind. Of the supporting cast, while all de serve favorable mention Mr. Russell Harrison and Chas. Leonard should come first as both were splendid. As "Jack Delmore" Mr. Harrison dil by far the best work of his engagement here, and showed an artistic voncep tion of the character. His reading was smooth, his articulation clear and his manly appearance v strength to the part. Mr. Leonard as "Luke Short" was also worthy of the favorable comment passed by the large audience. The same play will be given tonight and tomorrow night and will be followed Sunday with Bartley Campbell's "Divorced." 2 YM'lWAUWCll Good QotKe Men, as well as women, like to be well dressed, but many of then X dont know bow to go about It.
