Allen expects a sister, Mrs. Sadie Johnson, of Oldham, S. P., to arrive tonight L. H. Russell returned this morning from Portland where he has been at tending the Masonic Grand Lodge. Miss Syra Kuhn left for Portland, Seattle and the coast this morn'n, instead of taking last evening's train as 6he expected. Contractor S, R. Haworth left this morning for Wallowa, where he will transact business matters before go ing on to Enterprise. Mrs. J. R. Oliver went over to Un ion td visit her mother, Mrs. Blakesie;', who has been very sick for several weeks, but is now improving. Grady, who was call-sd to Walla Walla recently by the illness of her father, has returned and reports . the illness of a minor character. She is now engaged in packing tho re mainder of the Grady household goods and will leavG Sunday for Pendleton to remain permanently. The Seventh Day Adventists of the Inland Empire commence today hold ing their ten days' camp meeting, at Payette, Idaho. Advents from every where collect there and by. tonight there will be a city of tents, termed by some as the city of Zion. Those who left this morning from this cit: and vicinity are Mr. and Mrs. George Peach; Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Grandy, Mrs. J. M. Herr, Mrs. Potts, Maggie Mahaffey, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Chase of Elgin. Charles Hunter came out Tuesday to attend the wedding of his sister Miss Addle to Floyd Jones of Baker City. . , Mr. Seigel Cline, of Union, la em ployed with the Pioneer mills. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Jones are fol. lowed to their home in Baker City by the best wishes of a host of friends, the young couple have grown to yonng manhood and womanhood among us ana nave endeared themselves to all. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Clark, of Ham ilton, Mo., were over Sunday guents in the E. E. Skiddle home, they will visit Portland, Seattle and Victoria, before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Kiddle and C. H. Bidwell were all old schoolmates, so it was a happy reunion of old time friends. Chief Rayburn this afternoon noti fied the Hagenbeck-Wallace bill pos ters that they were violating a city ordinance by putting their advertis ing matter on the telephone poles in front of buildings. The show man be came quite "sassy," and all but re fused to obey the chiefs injunction; but when he finally realized that he is amenable to city ordinances just the same as ordinary, mortals, he agreed to at once remove the bills objected to.
