EASY RACE
J. H. Watson, division foreman of
the 0. II. & N., was waited upon yes
terday afternoon by a committee of
business men who presented to him
a numerously signed petition that he
become a candidate for school di
rector, to succeed David Bay, at the
coming school election. Mr. Bay has
served for a number of years in the
capacity of director, and has refused
to allow his name to be presented
again. Mr. Watson signified his will
ingness to accept the place if the elec
tors so desire.
So far as known at present there
is no one else who desires the office
enough to make a race against Mr.
Watson, and he will undoubtedly be
elected.. He was for three years on
the board of the schools at Umatilla,
and the experience gained there will
prove valuable here.
