The committee remained In the club rooms talking over the plans and methods until one of the members suggested that as It was almost Bunrlse, It might be well to adjourn. Mac Wood was elected chairman and he at once named the chairmen of the sub committees as follows: William Ash. finance; J. H. Peare, sports; William Miller, program; W. R. Jones, parade; F. S. Brainwell, grounds and decoration. Upon the shoulders of Walter M. Pierce will fill the task of obtaining a speaker. He hopes to be able to get one of the foremost men of the North west. Mr. Jones will have as one of his chief assistants, "Senator" Alll- json, whose band of-(name 'em your self), was one of the most prominent features of last year's parade. Mr. Allison will be given carte blanche. While It is not possible at this time to forecast more than a general plan GRAHdES TO WORK FOR HIGH STATE EDUCATION The state . county and subordinate P'"S'e of Oregon, including the vnincia in li.imi .mniv , nMiii.. rup i AcKcrman. t-res, vamplieii or O. Instead of building an expensive arbor of evergreens and im mediately after the Fourth tearing it down and so practically wasting a lot of good money," the committee Is negotiating for a giant canvass top, which after being used for the cele bration, will be folded up and laid away for future use. It will belong to the citizens of the city, and may be used for all meetings calculated to further the public welfare, for la stance the fruit fair planned for Autumn. It 'Will cost but little more if any more than a temporary arbor of ever greens, and will last for years. To give the canvass a holiday effect or appearance, it will be decorated with flags and streamers and the sides will be walled up with evergreens. Another plan that is out of the ordi nary is to hold a night parade in which at intervals there will be wag ons carrying colored tire. Owing to the fact that the Fourth comes on a Sunday, the celebration will be held on the day following. discussed. Much interest is being taken in the cause of higher education and this with the other features of the granges help to prove the truth or the assertion made by Ex-President Roosevelt during the reception given granges In the White House last year's "That the grange is the world's broad est organization." All Pictures at Pastime. Realizing that the public will at tend an entire picture show in pref erence to bum vaudeville, the man agement of the Pastime has decided to run three reels of the very best and latest of pictures and songs, and cut the prices of admission to five and ten cents. Patrons may feel assured hereafter that they will see no repeaters and that they will see a thoroughly clean, up-to-date picture show.
