Mr. and Mrs. Hector McDonald of Wallowa arrived in the city this af ternoon for a short visit. Circulation Manager Hlner of the Spokesman-Review, left yeBterday for Walla Walla. James Abegg left this morning for Enterprise to be gone a couple of months. - Conductor and Mrs. J. E. Connors will leave for Pendleton on June Its, to make their home. .! Mr. Chandler of Baker City is here demonstrating his white steamer auto mobile. Osbourne took his departure yesterday morning for points west, after transacting 'business in La Grande for several days. . This makes a total of six road machines belonging to Union county. One of them, which is like the new one just received, is used around Summerville, Alicel and Imbler; one is stationed at Xorth Powder, oneat Elgin, one in Hempe district near Union; one at Cove and the other one will be used in preparing the roads, for the maca-j dam work to be taken up in the near future.
