What Is Hpparently the most authen tic liK'oi'uiHtioi) piiiiiirabie about the nevv train service through La CSranK ;s related in the Portland Journal of yesterday. It seems the train start iiet Sunday aicordins to this: 1'oitlaud oriicials tf the Harriman lins were wived from Chicago this morning to the effict that the new train service betw'iMi Portland and Chicago over tlie O. R. & N.. Imhullnp the installation of n limited electric liKhtwl train to cany first class pas senners. niUBt go into effect on next Sunday. Petalls of the time card of th new service are still ic in the air, and probably will not be definitely a'--ranged unti' tomorrow. The receipt of the telegram from Chicago was un expected, and while Harriman official have known for some time that the change was brewing, it was not sup posed It would take place as early as Sunday. The principal change from the pres ent east hound schedule is that train Xo. 7. which now runs only to Pendle ton, will be extended to Chicago. This will giv the O. R. & N. three daily trains each way to Chicago, and one to Kansas City and St. Louis, by the way of the Oreg n Short line and the t'n ion Pacific. One of these transcontinental trains will probably be called the Northwest limited. It Is to be made up of stand ard and compartment sleeping. cars, diner and observation car, and will carry none but Hist class Pullman passengers. Time equivalent to that made by the Overland limited between Chicago and San Francisco will be made, and the only stops will be at the larger cities. This, as w-?ll as all other trains, are to be electric lighted. Dynamos will be Installed in the bag gage cars, from which power for il luminating the trains Mil be carried.
