Mrs. George Ackles returned Tues day night from Portland, where she went to consult ft specialist Ernest Hill, head machinist for tl. Meachain Lumber company, returned to the summit last night, after spend ing a few days i ntown. J. T. Williamson returned this morning from Eugene. Mr. William son will remain for a couple of weeks yet District Superintendent J. D. Cllll lan leaves tomorrow for Promise, Wallowa county, to be gone over Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Connors,' rec ent arrivals from Indiana, have rented a house on Spring street, and will make La Grande their home. Mrs. J. J. Carr and Mrs. H. L. An derson, who have been stopping at Hot Lake for several days returned this morning. , Colonel Hofer and C. E. ' S. Wood left this morning for Welser, where another meeting of the Oregon-Idiho Development Congress convened to day. . . G. D. King and C. R. Stanley ar rived from Wallowa county this uf ternoon to appear as witnesses In the contest case of W. L. Brenholts. which will be heard at the land office to morrow.
