"Shorty" Logue went to Hot Lake yesterday to shoot' carp In the waters of the pond there. Star Item. It I evident that the Star reporter missed a part of the recital of Shorty's adventures at Hot Lake. ' It is a mat ter of common knowledge that carp In great numbers, some of theni of normous size, are to be found in the sloughs In the vicinity' of Hot Lake and Union; but as yet no one has had I he experience that befell Mr. Logue on his trip yesterday. To tell the truth n as few words as possible, a monster carp, with teeth as long as a short rake handle, and a tall with which a man's g could be easily broken, resented the hunter's attempts to pierce his hide with "22" bullets; and finding his enemy entirely surrounded by wa ter. , vlclogsly attacked him. Mr. Logue avers that he had to climb the nearest telegraph pole, and must needs perch himself 10 feet above the sur face of the water In order to be out of reach of the angered animal. Kept there for several hours before the fish finally succumbed to his wounds. Mr. Logue Is not moving around much. but is able with some effect to relate his experience. DOUBLE HELPER CHEW.
