Strickland of Durkce. is under arrest and will appear before Judge Smith at 9 o'clock this morning to plead to an Indictment for forgery; says" the Ba ker City Democrat. Strickland is a school teacher in the Cracker Creek district. ; '' .'.',. The deed in question purports to be from , William Prlstua, who was one of the original locators of the Rainbow property,, and conveys all of his right, title and Interest In the now famous producer. r Pristus Is supposed to have ac knowledged the deed in a southern Idaho.county, befor eone E. R, Coulter, a notary, and Coulter and one J. B. Coakney are the witnesses named in the instrument. - . The deed was recorded In the coun ty clerk's office, just a few days ago, and the unusual character of its pur port was at that time remarked. ' Tho deed was then brought before the grand Jury and ufter an investiga tion that body determined that it was fraudulent and brought a verdict and Indictment against young Strickland. The" young man is now In Jail under a 500 bond. Yesterday he had se cured no attorney. - Strickland is said to have borne a very good reputation In the communi ty in which ho lived and many friends are said to be pained and surprised at the trouble in which he finds him self. . r:' . .V .
