Prof. Roy Conklln, principal of the Cove schools, arrived last evening to attend the conference. Since Cove hap boasted of a high school, athletics have been under -the supervision of Mr. Conklin, and It Is well supervised. too. George Ruckman, the Alieel farmer and stockman, was a town visitor this nfternoon. Mr. Ruckman drove in with his blue ribbon drivers, and sai l he came so fast that the mud did not have time to fly Into his lace. William Hall, the May Tark fruit man and horticultural booster, re turned this morning from a business trip to Portland and Eugene. He re ports seeing many orchards but not mipi-rlor to many to be seen In the Grande Ronde valley. William Snider, the Wallowa barber. Is in the city today visiting N)ld-time friends. It has been several years since Mr. Snider has been In La 3rand. and he says that he is more 1l'in pleased with the wondrous growth ihis city has made since his last visit. Attorney Leroy Lomax of Portland. Is in the city on circuit court matters and will probably be here until tomor row evening.
