The Boise and Payette valley peo ple for several month had a ' mov Ant picture show traveling- In the mid dle western states, showing the re aources of their country. It follows very large gathering. For Instance, this week It is In evidence at a corn how In Iowa. Lent week It was at Omaha, It Is very effective Bdvertln Ing and Is doing much to attract u great deal of - attention, not only to southern Idaho, b'jt the entire north-vwest.-' One scene will show a lurge ili'Hulnte MHgebruHh district with noth ing to even miffgent either the possi bility of u home or commercial aetlvl; y. The next scene will be less than JO years Inter with several cities of from 4000 to 6000 Inhabitants, with branch railroad running, power lines running across the couii'ry along coun ty roads dotted with f-.i't and alfalfi iarms and sheep an! cattle feeding bout numerous huyMt cks. The.ie pictures are not overdrawn; they are typical of the seen" the parsengers oil very train witness dnll;'.; Water . hrs worked there aim "t miracles. Wlth la the next few yea'-s hero will be no Jess than 200,000 pejpia Shlng In these two valleys more thai It now In the entire state of Idio. The city council is now cr.isnieiinis two phases of the near beer problem. A petition Is before them asking that an ordinance be enacted prohibiting the sale of all malt products. The rea aon for this Is apparent tos all. We have places In this city who are known to sell almost anything contained on .'.anal HmiA. mnmi unflnl thA ffUlfte IIIV ,"',".' - " of near beer or some similar malt pro duct. Other cities in dry districts hav, .been compelled to prohllbt their sale And many people In this city are of the opinion that it IS necessary nere. Mayor Hall has been making some In vestigation and at the last meeting of the council presented to trie council for consideration, a copy of the Pen dleton ordinance which licenses the sale of near beer, and this ordinance ts now In the hands of a coram leetto Is now In the hands of a committee of the council which will no doubt report at the next meeting. Some of the councllmen favor licensing, but with a number of restrictions such as pro hibiting minors from such resort. This may or It may not reach the de aired end, the chances are not, but I will be a decided Improvement over present conditions. As usuul the first few cold or really winter blustery dsys we will all forget what a delightful summer and full and so fur, winter wo have enjoyed There Is ample ttm yet for a great deal of falling weather and It Is to be hoped that it Will arrlvv on schedule time.
