Galloway came over from ( Union last evening to visit with his wife, who Is suffering with a severe attack of rheumatism at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Budge. ' Conductor J. C. Gulling returned this morning from Portland, where h, spent a few days with his daughter, Miss Ethel Gulling. It is likely that Mr. Gulling will apply for the Pilot Rock run at a near date. Herman Selgrlst, who has been at Hlllsboro attending the funeral of his mother which occurred last Sunday, returned this morning, accompanied by his brother, Adolph, who makes his home In Hlllsboro. The funeral of the late William G. Peach took place this afternoon from the Island City church. A large num ber of friends were out to pay their respects to one of the honored and re spected pioneers of this valley. David R. Eccles returned this morn ing from Baker Clty.where he went to spend a few days with his wife and son. He reports that In a few days he expects his son to come down .and take the management of the Pastime, ns he has developed a considerable in terest In the business, and It will be only a matter of a short time before the opportunities offered at Baker rlv will be altogether too limited for him. 60CIETX. Chun, the Korean Jointly accused with Whan Chang of the murder of Durham White Stevens last March, has 1 not been seen for four months. The dis trict attorney has Just learned the man is a fugitive. Secretary Strauss opens the meeting of the - National Council of Commerce tomorrow. The sessions will be held in the office of the Department of Commerce and Labor. What promises to be the largest dinner in the history of the Southern Society of New Tork will be held tonight at the Waldorf Astoria.'
