' The Good Roads convention which Is now in progress In this city, Is-being fairly well attended by the business men and farmers of the valley. Presl dent Collier of the Commercial club, called the meottng to order and called upon Hon. Walter M. Pierce to outline the objects of the meeting. While Mr. Pleretf is known to be one of the burli ness men in the county, he soon dem onstrated that he appreciated the value or K'od roads and cited the lact that old New York state was at this time spending $50,000,000 In Voads and lo cal communities as much more. Only one thing in this county, was of such importance as good roads, and that was the Irrigation problem that is now before the people, but be turned this into a logical and practical boost for good roadsi by showing that Irrigation would so Increase property values and Increased population would result In good roads. . President Scott, of the state Good Roads movement, was then Introduced and was' on the floor at the time of g'llng to. press, demonstrating what waa being done throughout the state In the way of organizing county leagues and work toward securing' needed legisla tion at the coming session of "the legls lature. " " -v- v v,...n -... ....... ... i President Scott paid a glowing trlb- and hopes n the near future to own no fees than 100 acres of our fruit land.
