The Herald said lust night: At last the docket In district court has been cleared to the case of the State of Oregon vs. D. R. Trapp, charged with murdering "Slim" Jas- person at Huntington several weeks ago. This cane has been the one around which Intense interest has cen tered this term court. Trupp lias Worried 1Hk. V. Ii. Trupp, the ueeused, appeared In court today with more or less of a worried look on hts face. He wus scrullnteud carefully by every specta tor, and general anxiety abounds 'in what line of defense this man will fol low. The killing of Javperson was done by him. but what cause he may have hud for the capital crime Is not known to the public, and ltNls that very thing which people are unxiuusly walling to hear, lloth men were bar tenders in Huntington, apparently they had been friends, rutlier Inclined to be close friends. This has been mention ed by Mrs Trapp since the murder. Jaxperson was apparently expecting no trouble from Trapp for on the af ternoon of the tragedy ho was at work in the Frazer saloon. .Trapp entered and with few words shot Jusperson to death. A strugglo between Piaster and Trapp followed, in which the lat ter was disarmed. It Is claimed, but he succeeded In getting uuuy. lie ran out of the city of Huntington a short distance and was found by officers se cluded In s.igebrush. When Jasper son received the death dealing bullet from Trapp's pistol ho fell buckwan anil died with his pipe In his mouth. Until testimony given some insight Into what Trapp's motive was for killing Jasperson the matter will re main a mystery. Apparently all sug gestion ns to the cause of the rash act have bet n purely guesses as none have yet had explanation enough on which to stand. immediately after the crime It was staled that Jealousy over a woman was the cause, but soon th t'lik .ii.-it uway and with many It was discredited. Momentary Insanity Is suKgested by some to have been the cause, with n morbid desire to shed hc blood nf Home person. A New Invent ion. The Xewlln It. S. Co.
