Though he hafc been showered with praise for a so called good aim, he Is deserving of still more praise tor a nervy bit of slaughtering. He found two cubs up a tree nd hurried to the spot to pre vent either coming down and escap ing. Ho corraled one but the other dropped to the ground from a droop ing limb. He gave chaxe and aimed, but his weapon refused to work. , See ing such efforts were futile he 're turned and slew the other with a club as It was coming down the tree trunk. Fortunately for him the mother Bruin was not around. He takes it for granted that the mother had parted company with her offspring, due to the advanced growth which the animals had attained.
