Sheriff ChiUlcrs left this morn Ing for Waltsburg, Wash., where he has an alleged bogus check artist lo cated. His name is R. B. Taylor, for merly of Elgin, and the direct charges against him are that he passed bogus checks on Carl Hallgarth and Isaac Dawson. The amount alleged to have been' secured from these two men Is about $50. The fellow was located at WaltBburg yesterday, and with one of the men on Whom the checks were passed with him to Identify the fellow, the sheriff left this morning for the lit.. 1,.-; T?r'' niw under ar rest. Harrlman, the Southern Pacific magnate spending his vacation at Pel ican Bay, has no great- revelations to make to Governor Chamberlain, but desires to win hint over to the corpor ation view of American life, since he Is certain to become a United States senator, says an Eugene paper. Hnr rlman, it Is said, feels that a great crisis Is about to occur in the railroad affairs of the nation, and Is far from certain that he will have' enough Unit ed States senators In his hunri to stave off the threatened storm. Yesterday Chamberlain spoke to the people of Klamath Fulls, but noth ing of any conseqetim-e, was given out officially as to what reason Hnrrlman had for asking the governor to come to him clear across the state. Wheat farmers must of necessity own and operate large tracts pi land to make It a paying Investment.
