' The carnival tents are up on Jef ferson avenue, and everything is ready for tha opening gun this evening, which la to mark the beginning of the week-end carnival in this city under the auspices of the La Grande band. There Is but one feature which may not. make Its appearance tonight though It. Is promised for every suc ceeding night, and that Is 'the night ascension of the balloon. The aerial artist makes the trip at the dead of night, but red fire marks his course and his trip is plainly visible to the spectators. . After tonight, and It Is barely possible that he will do it this evening, this feature will be seen about 10 o'clock.; ' v ' ;".',. With a fanfare of trumpets and crash of bandr the carnival doors open this evening and for the rest of the week confetti throwers and , amuse ment seekers will have ample room to secure tnwr imxwu.w."'!..'''
