Raker City Cuoplr. Phil MiGwern and Mlsa Addye t ago) M&MMiMMl Gardner, both of Baker City, : were married Saturday night by Rev. Deal at the Methodist parsonage. Mr. Mc Gcvern Is a. popular young man of Ba ker City, a lineman in the employ of the Baker Light Company, and Miss Gardner has for about two years been an expert stenographer In the employ of the Baker City Grocery compuny. From here Mr. McGovern went to Portland to prepare a home for his brldo, and Mrs. McGovcrn returned to .Baker City for a short time. Both are young people of sterling worth and ability, and very popular In their set ' Over at the Blue Mountain house It a lady whose story Is father pathetic, though it will probably turn out all right. "Last Monday, just, a week ago, Jesse Klrby McDonald left Volmer, Idaho, for Oregon. He told his wife who; with four little children, the old est of whom Is a boy of 13, to remain behind, to pack up, ship the house hold goods to La Grande, and to follow them on Monday today. . Mrs. Mc Donald became tired of waiting,' In which rasa she was to leave before the date agreed upon, and started Sat urday Instead of waiting until today. When she came to La Grande, her husband, unaware of her arrival, was not at the depot, and up to this time has not put In an appearance. Mrs. McDonald does not anticipate any more serious difficulty, than that oc casioned by a delay In learning the whereabouts of her huxbnnd. but all the same, she would like very much to see him today. She Is supplied with money enough to last a week or two. Air. McDonald Is a carpenter by trade, but since he left Alberta, Canada, about a year ago, he has been engaged In sawmllllng In the vicinity of Vol mer, but the flurry last fall forced him to sell the mill at a considerable loss.' No Grounds for Milk Scnrc. The tuberculosis story hns fright ened some people so badly that they are not drinking anything but water nowadays. . which Is certainly worse. ays the Pendleton Tribune. The con sumers and dairymen have had such a scare thrown Into them that it le nothing more than right that some explanation should be made. The charge that the germs of tuberculo sis lurked In the milk was general and not specific. So far as known no particular localisation of the disease has been made. The dairies have not been Inspected, nnd the object of Dr. Colo's crusade was to bring about an Inspection of the local dairies and lo cal conditions. Lucky Miner. feattle. July 2(1.
