N. is willing to provide for sufficient accommodations if those contemplating the trip will notify the agent at once. It is generally conced ed that close to SO, at least, are plan nlng on going to Portland during the first week of June, and accommoda tions will be cramped unless the com' pany it given information which will enable the mto provide the best possi ble accommodations. Rader, scout of the Pen dleton baseball team of the Inland Empire league, was scurrying around tho metropolis Tuesday looking for a shortstop for the Wheatvllle nine. "U. C." was very anxious to steal Asher Houston from the West Portland team of the Trl-Clty league, and Asher seemed willing to be pilfered. Hous ton will make a nice addition to the Pendleton bunch. Incidentally, "U. C." did some tall kicking when Pluve butted Into affairs out at Vaughn street; he wanted to see a big game before beating It back to the sage brush. Portland Journal. Are Laying Brick. 120,000 school building was placed In position' Monday and the work of laying brick is going rapidly on. A sealed tin box containing a copy of the Elgin Recorder, coins, buttons and a write-up of the new building were placed In the corner stone.
