' One of the moat interesting and also well-attended county teachers' meeting was held In this city today when clow to a half-hundred peda gogues assembled to listen to an In structive program In which teachers from various portions of the county took active parts. The opening was slightly delayed as the train from the east was late, de laying arrival of the North Powder, Union and Cove delegations. How ever, when the gathering got down to regular work, there was a good crowd In attendance. County Superintendent Bragg presided. A topic which needs especial atten tion In Union ' county arid which should be acted upon by the school boards, is the subject of music In the schools. The La Grande schools es pecially, need this addition to the cur rlculum. That Important topic was ably handled by Mrs. Nellie O. Nelll Ot this city. She presented . truths worthy of attention and adoption. "Natural Georgraphy" was a sub Ject discussed at some length by B. M Snider. ''uiZw. Crsi? virtln" came In for some highly, instructive plans by Miss Ruth Bush of this city.' "The Teacher's Aid In the Pupil's Prepara tion" was likely full of helpful sug gestions. E. W. Allen handled this subject. ' With the last-named paper, the meeting adjourned until after lunch. Promptly at 1 o'clock the work was taken up again by a very Interesting discourse, "Our Education al Inheritance." by Principal Omen Bishop of Union. "Field Meets" were discussed by Prof. Roy , Conklln of Cove.- .: Mr. Conklln Is well versed In .clean sports and naturally his paper teemed with good points. , , ' Mr. Bragg Is highly pleased with the success ot the institute.
