Commence Monday to HeiiKxlol the Second Floor or Elks Building Not later than Monday morning carpenters will begin the rearrange ment of the upstairs' of the lately purchased Elks' building, according to plans that have been prepared by a committee. It means a general change of arrangements on the second floor. The main reading room Is to remain as It Is.' The second room to the left of the corridor will be made smaller for an ante room, and tho two curd rooms which adjoin It, will bo made one and converted Into a lodge room. Folding doors will make It possible to have the ante room made a part of the lodge room. On the right of the corridor will be several changes also. The ladles' parlor will remain un touched, but the rooms which have been devoted to living purposes for the assistant secretary, will be made Into a large dining room with several ante rooms for kitchen purposes. The downstairs or first floor will be supplied with a new floor, and the west room utilized. ' GRADING BALL PARK. Two Scrapers Have About Completed , Work of Smoothing Park. Two . large scrapers hauled by enough teams to make . the grading rmpiu, were ousy yesterday on tne athletic park smoothing down the rough places and putting the grounds In satisfactory condition. Much of the work has been done and from present Indication! the field will be very suitable for a diamond. The aoll la toft dirt but It will be firmly pack ed by rollera and when completed will be as good a baseball field as could be desired. The fence Is practically built. A local op tion eelctlon Is In progress In Danville today, after a campaign which has been warmly contested by both the liquor Interests and the Anti-Saloon league. Both sides are claiming a vic tory and the result will probably be very close. Panvllle has about 20 sa loons, all of which will have to quit business If the "drys" ars successful In today's election. ' Jack O'Brien, famous as the advo cate of .the four-town league which was not formed, la managing the La Grande team and Is said to have an entirely professional nine. Consequent ly a high grade of baseball is expect ed from them for the opening game of the season here.
