' i , There are quite a number of people In this city who Would soon become enthusiastic over a proposition to cure a Carnegie library. This Is worthy of careful consideration. A great many cities In the northwest are embracing this offer. On the othei hand, there ae many place who have investigated the plan and have decid ed that their conditions will not war rant the expense of maintenance. It might be well to look the mutter up If It should prove feasible, It would mean the erection of another large. substantial building. ah evaporating plant and cannery should be one of the Industries that should be established In this city during the present year. It would not require a very strenuous effort on the part of an active commerclul body to secure such a plant. This would pro. vide a market for quite a portion of the fruit that would otherwise be marketable. It would also furnish another payroll an.l would he a dlvl aenn prroduccr upon the capital In vested. There I a splendid opening here in La Grand for a fruit house. This is the fruit center of the county. We have the fruit, the volume of which Is Increasing each yeur. All we need Is the firm with the necessary capital and experience. This field wilt un doubtedly be occupied before It Is time to move the next crop. ' The registration In Union county predict a lively primary election. This is as It should be. The voters are th ones who make th tickets under th primary system.
