A large number of enthusiastic la dles met at the club room In the puollc library yesterday afternoon and com pleted the organization of a Woman's Park club, says the Walla Walla Bulletin. The club Is known as "The Wo man's Park Club." The object of this organization is to devise ways and .means for securing a permanent .park' fund for maintenance and for the ac quiring of other park lands;' to take an active Interest In beautifying one's own neighborhood. To encourage the planting of school grounds and vacant lots, etc., and to aid the park commis sion In Its efforts to make Walla Walla the city beautiful. The organization Is a permanent one, that will live and prosper, aid and encourage In every possible way anything that tends to make this the most beautiful city In the northwest. The members will make a canvas of the city and expect to have by Sat urday a list of 1000 members to boost the park movement. Mr. Vance came to the city Satur day and took the local'to the county seat to attend to some business mat ters, and as he stepped off the train. was arrested and lodged In the county Jail. He confesed the crime to Sheriff ! Chrlsman and Attorney Menefee, stat- ! Ing that these relations had existed for several months. When arraigned before Judire Brad- shaw he pleaded guilty of the charge and was sentenced to the penitentiary for 20 years. The lecherous wretch deserves all he got, and we do not believe that It would be criminal to wish that the term of his natural life might end be fore the expiration of the sentence. Hood River News.
