THE REAL ESTATE, LOAN COUNTY IK CHI DUSTER At a direct result of effort made by the Neighborhood club of thla city to promote a general cleaning up of both streets In La Grande and county high ways In Union county, each supervisor In the county has been Individually notified and Instructed to make a special effort this spring to keep the roads clean of garbage and rubbish. The committee appointed by the Neighborhood club recently waited upon the county board fo supervisors at the last session and thus made the first step In a crusade which will leave La Grande as a city with alleys and back yard utterly void of rubbish. The court took favorable action on the petition and Instructed the coun ty clerk to notify the supervisors, as stated. The committee Is not finished yet, and in a few days will present them selves to the council with the same requests that were made to the coun ty board. There are other movements on foot which will be presented as plans ma ture and become perfected. At this' stage of the crusade, the committee is pleased with progress. Wood Notice. Palmer, of this "Ity, by Dr. Edgar Hewitt, director of the American Institute of Archaeology. The whereabouts of the papers has been unknown ever since their cap ture by the Spaniards, and their dis covery Is one of Importance, in as much as they are expected to throw Mght on early American history. It Is expected not only to show General Pike's early explorations, but to settle the much-discussed question as to whether General Pike was Implicated In the Burr conspiracy.
