If the . present arrangement and equipment for fire protection la Inade quate, and the engtaeera find It so, additional water Unas will be laid. Under the old arrangement of O. R. N. shops and buildings In general.1 the water aupply for flre protection was fully aufflcleat but etnee the new buildings have bee erected aad old ones torn down, there Is evidently some question In the mlada of the of ficials as to the thoroughness of the eyaum as It now la. The engineers have conferred wltk City Water Su- perlatendent Gllraaa and othera, and by tkla evening will nave completed their work on reports that are to be made, will depead la a large meas- e?s. nr -aot the rarde are to be replped with mains aad eab-Uaea. mm The building fund of the Elks' lodge has been swelled approximately 1300 during the past two evenings, by rea son of the mlnatrels, which the lodge gave in this city.' . . The fund has long since assumed congiueraoie proportions and every little bit added to what it had makes Just a little bit more. There Is to be no let-up In the build Ing movement. Now that the mln strels are off their hands, the mem bere will devote themselvea to form Ing a building association, which in turn Is to erect the building. This as soclatlon is to be similar to the Ma sonic building association, and will carry to the finish, building plans that are now In the embryo. WtMonHiu Democratic Convention.
