Although (even year to a day, "be yond the proverbial age of "three score and ten," Andrew B. Rhonlmus, an aged rancher living In the moun tains between Meacham and Pendle ton, made proof on a Umatilla reser vation tract at the local United States land office today. The land on which he proved up Is located near the place where he last year shot and Instantly killed Tom Myers, the young man who was making off with c iiori, tne property ui lau in.iuw. Rhonlmus was julled and tried, but It took the Jury Just two minutes to ac quit the prisoner. Though celebrating his 77th birthday today, Mr. Rhonlmus Is hale and hearty. An Incident In his life since his 'ac quittal Is being freely brought tj mind by those who heard It and who happened to see the old gentleman on La Grande streets. x Mr. Rhonlmus was a witness In a land case in the local office not long ago, and when asked where he spent the previous summer,-replied: "In Jail." "What were you In Jail for?" came the query. "For killing a thief." He qualified his remark to the as tonlHhment of the examiner, by stat Ing: "And I want that punctuated with the fact that I was acquitted Just two minutes after the Jury took my case."
