It is definitely known that the Japan ese ambassador is pleased 'with the re sults of the President -Schmitz San Fran cisco school board conference, He would have been displeased had San Francisco refused to allow properly qualified Jap anese ctvldren into the public schoois. Aokio does not care how stringent the regulations are concerning immigration, providing it applies equally to all aliens. What the Tokio government sought, was that Japir.ese citizens be scborded all the privileges extended to citizens of the most favored nation. This has been accomp lished by compromising. Had not Presi dent Roosevelt been uccessful in his con ference with representatives from the Pacific Coast. ofticialsat Japan would have recalled the ambassador.
