The fact is, a legislature might remain in session for the entire twelve months in a year and its I acts would be as legal as tho confined to the forty days. The constitution merely saVs that the'entire per diem of a mem- har shall not amount to more than $120 for any one session, and as $3 a day it is easily figured out that after forty days m.mkara mnt either adiourn or work without pay'-and they usu'aliy adjourn! Many times an extra day has been added' to the length of the session it will be done this time and the acts of ik.fnrtu-flmt dav are as lecal as those of the first.
