Paved streets are greatly to be desired but they are expensive. The writer was in Pendle ton last week and was informed that its paved streets cost the property owners $7 per front foot. This means $210 per SO ft lot . We were also informed that rents'along this principal streets were at the rate of $5 per front foot per mo.ith. We doubt whether all of the property on this street rents at this rate, but it is a well known fact that rents are double what they are in La Grande. When the property owners in La Grande receive rents equal to rentals in Pendieton, La Grande also will have paved streets.
