There has been a disastrous flood at Starbuck, but despite its proximity to this place not a definite word has yet reached beyond the significant fact that all tele graph and telephone wires are down and that the 0. R. & N. bridge across the Tucannon has been completely torn out and the railroad briage at Grange City, a hamlet near Starbuck, has been practi cally ruined. ' All stories purporting to be details of the flood are pretenses, as the newspaper! of this place are as yet unable to get anything in the nature of a narration of facts about the flood. The presumption is, however, that the town has met with a disrster, and perhaps the major ' part has been swept away.
