To day he called up the Observer by tele phone and dictated the following ward ing his action in vetoing the gas franchise ordinance. MAYOR'S STATEMENT The gas franchise ordinance was dead six days before it was submitted to the mayor lor his approval or otherwise. It was dated toao into effect tha swth nf January 1 907. It was not sicned or tmh- lished until this date had elapsed, which maae it void according to law.
