The entire cast of characters, with the ex ception of Mr. and Mrs. DeVere, was com posed of local talent, each one deserving special mention. Mrs. Richardson in the title role of Es trella Bonham was most superbly gowned and did a most creditable piece of acting and wa most enthusiactically received. Mrs. Scroggin as Bonita Canby, portrayed the character in a manner true to life and dressed the part most becomingly. Mits Gertrude B.ever, as school teacher, was prettily dressed and did ' neat piece of acting and bttracted much attention. Mrs. Ethel DeVere as Lena Kellar, the wait ress was perfect in her workv Janette Stevens KePey as Mrs. Canby acted her part to perfection and received many compliments from her friends. Mr. C. E. Qilhlan as Col. Bonham de serves great credit for his correct por tiavai of the character. E. L. tickler as Henry Canby, owner of th Canby ranch, was race ved with great applause. - 1 Capt Hodgman, as portrayed by C M. DeVere. did a most excellent piece of work H. E. Coolidg,' in th role of Lieut Denton, did great credit to the part, Also did A. C. Clark- a surgeon. Charlie Cross, as Tons Moatano, the vaquero, was excellent, and wa favorably received. A. B. Rogers, as Sgt Kellar, rendered a most excellent portrayal of the part, also M. M. Childars a private Quigley. ' The specialities introduced, by Mrs, Scroggin and Mrs. Richardson war x oellent and were enthusiastically received. Too much credit cannot be given to Mr. DeVere for the able manner in which he staged and directed the piece. " Mr. DeVere is very . favorably and Weil known in tha east and ha much exper ience in th theatrical lin. 2 : f- THE POLMATIER SISTERS ' ' Th Polmatier Sisters, who the La Grande Commercial Club ha aeeured to appear in this city on February first, have made decided hits . wherever tbey have appeared. Their concerts are of a high claea and the reciters are of th best. Th six piece orchestra, composed of the ' six istera, is credited to be a ' wonder and their dance music is something extraord inary. "Sergeant Kitty" with dainty fivacious Helen Pyron heading the big cast em ployed, will be seen at the Steward Opera House on Saturday Feb. 2. There t a craze at the moment for thing "musical" in th desire of th theatre goer.
