This mornins, nearly tixty teacher of
Union county left for Pendleton to attend
the eastern division of the Oregon
Teacher Association which meets there
beginning with today and continuing for
three day. Practically every teacher
in this city went. On the train were
about fifty teacher from Baker City and
North Powder and surrounding country
making the total number of teacher on
the train when it left La Grande, about
one hundred and fifteen.
Several Union county teacher are on
the program including Prof. Hockenberry
of the city school. He deliver an ad
dress before the teacher, and the ubiect
matter of which is printed in this issue.

J. E. Reynold returned this morning
from Corvallis, where he saw the big
gam last Saturday. He is enthusiastic
over the game and say that the Agie
put up the game of their live. The field
was a sea of mud and the light weight of
A. C. team made decided advantage
for the heavier opponents. Nevertheless,
the game was a dandy, he says, regard
less of the fact that it was a trifle slow.
To illustrate the amount of mud that the
game wa played in, Mr. Reynolds affirm
that Dobbin, a Union boy, and playing end
of the team, weighed his jersey at the end
of the first half and it tipped the scales at
turteen pounds.
Mr. Reynolds saw hi on, Ralph, cap
tain the second team that defeated the
Monmouth aggregation last .Friday. Fol
