empower the chief of police and instruct
him to see that the side-walks are not
the proper places for the "rapid transit"
loving youth to make their run-ways.

tempting, but the "belly-buster" should

If this is not done some persons older
or younger are likely to be injured either
by the sleds, or by fallen on the shekened

The installation of Rev. S. W. Seemann,
D. D., as pastor of the Presbyterian church
of Union, took place last evening. Nov. 22,
at 7:30 p. m.
A large audience shared the interesting
exercises. Rev. H. A. Ketchum, D. D of
Baker City, charged the pastor. Rev. W.
S.Holt, D. p., of Portland, charged the
congregation, and Rev. E. B. Hay, of
La Grande, preached the sermon. The
large choir, under the direction of Mr.
Charles Cochran, furnished fine music.
Rev. Seemann came to Union last May
from Columbus Ohio. He is an able and
loquent preacher. The outlook for

for pastor and people.

Tomorrow afternoon at Island City, the
Elgin team will again try conclusions with
the Island Cityites. Island City say they
have practiced but once this week and El

The Elgin people have taken on men of
more experience and weight and while
they have not had sufficient practice to
