Agent (Observer Special) University of Oregon, Nov. 12 Two La Grande boys, Kilpatrick and Grout, held positions in the second varsity team that snowed the second team from Corvalis, under the drifts last Saturday to the tune of 16 to 6. The freshmen have chosen as their colore, green and white. Robert Kountree, trie clever imperson ator is again in college and will probably accompany the glee club on its tour this winter. Last Wednesday at an assembly Prof. Boynton, lectured on Wireless Telegraphy. He had a sending and receiving station in operation. on the stag. R. N. Hockenberry of Portland umpired the Willamette game. Both sides con sidered him extremely fair, and accepted his rulings without protest The La Grande delegation keeps well informed as to home doings thru the medium of the Evenino Observer. Ralph Reynolds, also of La Grande played quarter on the Corvalis team. This ie hie first year in atheletics, but he is playing a strong game. His chances for the varsity next year are good. Frank Hawley a eon of La Grande now attending the 0. A. C. is first sub half back on Agies' varsity. THE ELGIN-ISLAND Last Saturday the Island City team captured another scalp when they actually ran around Elgin at will. Island City kicked off to the defender's IS yard line, where the ball was fumbled Island City falling on it It was but about a minute until the ball had been carried over by rune. From then on thru the first half it was run sheep run and scores piled up fast However it wae not because Elgin failed to work, that scores accumulated but rather 'because the ig norance of the game. Elgin players worked like Trojnne, to keep back the visitors, but they did the wrong thing at the wrong time, and the score of twenty eight to nothing was the consequence. Parker for the visitors skirted Elgin's right end for gains of ten to thirty yards repeatedly. Hie consistent gains were the features of the game, with the one exception where Walters for the Islanders got away for a spectacular run of fifty five yards. He was however, overtaken by an Elginite and downed but Parker carried the ball over the next play. Jake Halgarth for the Elginites captain and quarter, went out of the game early and did much to weaken the etrength of the team, Elgin is enthusiastic over its team regardless of the defeat and is mak ing every effort to supply the much felt want, that of coaching. Island City made very few gains thru Elgin's line. , ) . i : .
