There are now over three hundred students enrolled in the university. It is probable that before Christmas this num ber will be increased to three hundred and fifty. The Mandolin club of the university has effected temporary organization and will soon begin work, it will, as usual, accompany the Glee club on its tour of Eastern Oregon. This trip will probably be made during the Christmas holidays. The Freshman class has elected its officers. Among tnem are Glen Scott and Edith Johr.son of Pendleton, who were elected president and vice-president respectively. Orai A. Wilscn, the new y elected presi dent of the Sophomore c.a:s, comes from Baker City. Ben Grout, of La Grande, is one of the mosl prominent candidates for a position on the football team. At present he is holding down the pcs t.cn as center on the second team. The Oregon weekly states that as soon as footoall work is over, trainer Hayward will get Richardson and some other big men at work putting the snot and ham mer. A mass meeting of the student body was held this week. Addresses were made on class work, debating, oratory, football, baseball and basketball. Much enthusiasm was developed. In all her enterprises this year, U. of O. will have a united and sympathetic student body. The rooters of the university have or ganized and every evening during football practice there may be heard on Kincaid field and fcr blocks around, the inspiring sound of college yells and the melodious strains of "Boola Hoc'a."
