There seems to be a division in sentiment among the leaders of the movement for advocating vigorous measures, which some affect to believe means lynching of thugs when caught, while others take the stand that coalition with the police can be safely predicted. Oct. 13 One of the greatest reunions of Odd Fellows in the United States took place in v the Opera House here tonight the occasion being the prodsction of the dramatized ' deg rees of Odd Fellowship by the Oak Cliff Degree Staff, Great interest was centered in the proceedings and delegates from every state in the union attended. Amongst those present from other state were team captains and those most prominent in, the development of the ritualistic work of the order. The pro duction was the final result of three years effort in' the finished dramatization of the four degrees of the subordinate lodge of Odd Fellowshipand was the first of its kind ever presented in the United Stales The proceedings were highly success ful. A committee leader. Mr. Straubermuller, of the Department of Education has prepared a classification of the public schools in the country in order to make it possible for the visitors to see the kind of school ir. which he or she is most interested. All parts of the United States will be visited. Oct. 1 3. Judge Woodferd for twenty years a criminal judge, this morning while sentencing a prisoner for burglary, raid: "You are what is called an under dog. I am for under dogs all the time. 1 consider John D. Rockefeller an under dog too. for everybody jumps on him. I don't know him, never met him, but I think he is the most abused man in the country." With this peculiar parting remark the prisoner was lead away while the judge turned to the nex' criminal the line. Burlington and Quincy railroad Company having set aside $253,423 received sealed proposals today for the purchase of sink ing fund bonds of the Iowa division. Frasier vs Ed Hard ing, city pound master, the court held that owing to tha fact that the supposed city pound was not designated as per the city charter, legally the city did not have a pound and took the case away from the jury and directed it to bring in a verdict for the plaintiff and for $90 damages. The cause of action was based on the fact that the city impounded several head of horses, the property of Mr. Frasier. As a result of having no pound, Pound master Harding today filed complaint against Peter Jacobs, James Ireland and W. K. Davis under the city ordinances for permitting stock to run at large. This is more expensive than the former system and owners of stock will av trouble by keeping their stock up. (Scrlpps News Association) Chicago. Oct. 13 Offers from outside cities for the seventh game in the world championship series have been declined by the National baseball commission. The balmy sunshiny weather and the half holiday that las been declared in the city, has caused an increase in attend ance. Rooters are carrying all sorts of noise makers. Atone thirty the gates were closed with 10,000 fans standing on the out side unable to gain admission. Twenty five thousand were on the inside. By the time the game started there were fifteen thousand people lined up on the gates. A roar from the rooters d'owned all other sounds as the board of trade rooters led a pair of live cubs on the grounds. Tannehill went in at short, but was later replaced by Davis. Roh'e is at third. As the cubs entered the field they led a pair of black bears, snapping and snarling amusingly. Two two-baggers and a single netted the Cubs three runs in the first, the Sox landing one man. In the third the Sox again scored. The Americans won the game by a score of 8 to 6. Men were on the field from the largest furniturs houses in the stats. Portland, Pendleton and Baker City firms were represented but it remained with th La Grande dealers to secure the order.
