Stensland, the bank wrecker, keeps going down in the criminal scale. His offense is no longer even dignified by the term embezzlement, it is just plain, coarse stealing. The recent rains played havoc w.th the hop fields in the Coast counties. Good old Grande Ronde Valley took a drenching without financial loss worth mentioning. In fact, the rain helped the beet crop. THANK YOU The editors of the Observer would be less than human if they did not admit feeling highly gratified at the public's reception of the Industrial Edition which appeared yesterday. The practically un animous appreciation of the merit of the edition as a means for calling' the atten tion of the outside world to the resources and advantages of this valley is a re ward to us for above the satisfactory financial returns. The edition was fairly profitable to this office, and we sincerely believe it will bring great returns to the Valley. Our object throughout has been to put theedition on a high plane, and we be- lieve that it contains less matter open to criticism than any special tdition that has appeared in this section. There are no portraits, no biographical sketches, no whisky advertisements, no patent medi cine ads. but an abundance cf clean, truthful facts and authentic figures in regard to the Grande Ronde Valley. To be perfectly frank, we are quite proud of this edition, and do not see at this writing how it could have been materially improved, bo naturally, we accept as honest expressions the very flattering comments that have reached us from the public.
