At present the station has eighteen vari eties under cultivation; demonstrat ing the advlwiblllty of planting home grown seed In place of Imported seed; testing the adaptability of the various varieties to our climatic conditions: and a comparative test of the varie ties regarding the sugar content and tonnage. He still retains and conducts Hotel Josephine, a 50-room hostelry at Grants Pass, Ore. Under his per sonal management here, Hotel Foley Is more than meeting the approval of the traveling public, and to stop there once Is to be his guest when again In La Grande.
