Jacobsgaard, form erly of Baker City but who has been en gaged intha wiolesile liquor business in Ontario for- the past six months, is in Baker today. He says the vote for pro hibition carried by an alarming majorit, in that Gou ty, only three or four pre cincts in the entire county going wet This will put many saloons and whole sal houses in that county out of business. Mr. Jaco'isgaard in discussing the situa tion said; "The real causa of Malheur going for prohibition is the manner in which the saloons have been conducted. I believe a marjority of the voters of Malheur are in favor of saloons if they are conducted along the propes lir.es. But in Malheur t 'ere was gamb'ing and music and open towr.s and evtryth ngthat the prohibition ists could object to in addition to the regular liquor business. ' " , A very active campaign for prohibition was waged In the foregoing counties be tween the liquor forces on the one eide and the prohibition forces on the other. These returne will not, however, change to any considerable degree the pluralties as they are already estimated. Majorities for all the other initiative meas ures will range from 15,000 to 30,000. the latter figures probably being attained by the majorities for the gross earnings tax bills, which received a larger vote than ar.y of the bills in the election.
