The saloon keepers are guilty of conduct ing saloons near the Preston School of IndustryTa state instition7Thelaw was passed by the last legislature and at the institution of the temperance people. K. & N. system, who was in the city last week during the high water, struck keynote of the flood situation m Eastern Oregon in a conversation in this city. He said that the denudation of the mountain along the sources of the streams would increase the danger from floods every year, as there was no timber left to hold the snow, or to catch the rain and cause it to soak into the ground. NEARY AND GOODMAN FIGHT (Scrlpps News Association) Boston Mass., June 6 Charley Neary, the pu Hist who recently showed such marked ability in his battle with Jimmy Briggs, and Kid Go.dman will fight this evening before the Lincoln Club Chelsea. Goodman and Neary fought at Milwaukee in December 1904 and the decision after eight rounds of milling was a draw. It is said that since then Goodman has gor,e back a great deal while Neary has steadily improved. An interesting col test is expected. ADJUSTING LOSES (Scrlpps News Association) San Francisco, June 6 After several weeks deliberation, bickering, open quar rels, deadlock and threatened rupture among the underwriters and adjusting committees, this morning they entered upon the work of final adjustment of the losses during the recent disaster, invol ving six or more companies. Two loses were partially adjusted and Secretary Mohardt stated that it his opinion there will be no further delay.
