The crisis is considered over and many mine have resumed operation. IOWA MASONS MEET Ocrlpps New Association) Des Moines, la., June 6. Th eixty third annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, A. F. and A. M. opened here today for a three day' session. The School of Instruction, a orovided bv the Masonic Cod of Iowa, was opened her last Friday and continued through Friday. Saturday, and yesterday. . , - ' This morning th delegates formed ' in line on the corner of 7th and Locust street under the direction of the Grand Marshall and marched to the Auditorium escorted by the Temple Cammandary "O. Th public exercises at th Auditorium began at half past nine and included addresses of welcome by the Mayor and other prominent citizens and responses by the officers of the Grand Lodce. A the conclusion of the public exercise all excepting the Master Mason present retired end the session of the Grand Lodge was opened. The ceremony was performed by Crdnd Master Norris as sisted by the other Grand officer. The Grand Master read his report and then the reports of the various Grand officer were ubmitted. Snortly after two o'clock the session was closed to enable the visit ng member to go to Fort De Moines and attend the battalion drill. This even ing the visiting member of the Grand Lodge will be the guest of th local Masons at a theatre party in the Empire Theatre. The Grande Lodge will hold another ession tomorrow morning and afternoon and in the evening they will be given a opportunity to inspect the Capitcl build- ng, which will be thrown open for that purpose. LIQUOR MEN WANT LOWER RATES (Scrlpps News Association) Louisvi'!. Ky. j'jne 5 The annual convention oi the National Wholesale Liquor Dealers Associatun opened here toddy with a lare attendance of dele gates representing every part of the United States. Tne convention will last three days and the local men have made special efforts for the entertainment of the delecdtes. At the same time the National Association of Mail Order Liquor Dealers is holding its annual convention here at the Seelbach. This association which is incorporated under the laws of Kentucky has now about forty members. It was organized last year, in Cm ago with an original membership of seven members. Matters of ereat importance to the liquor trade will be discussed at both conventions. The principal fight now on in which the Mail Order Houses are in terested is a fight with the express com panies for a reduced rate of transDort- ation. The companies held for th regular merchandise rate but through th effort of the association a reduction has been granted, the reduction hovever has not been great enough to satisfy the demands of the association and the fight is still being continued.
